Faith Into The Community

Nearly 60 people attended a “Faith into The Community” breakfast at Immanuel over spring break. Not only was there an impressive number of people in attendance, the topic was impactful. Palatine Mayor Jim Schwantz and Immanuel missionary George Frahm, among others, spoke and attendees contributed to group discussions as well. Elder Kevin Kindelin shares the story of not only the breakfast, but also the implications for the future.unnamed Click here to read the story of this meeting.  Faith into the Community

Angkor Wat

Cambodian Fact – Angkor Wat, a world heritage site, is the largest religious site in the world. It started out as a Hindu Temple built by Suryavarman II, an Indian ruler, in the first half of the 12th century. It later became and remains today a Buddhist temple. The name, Angkor Wat, is a modern derivative of the Cambodian “Nokor Wat” which translates as “City of Temple Grounds.”  The site itself is huge and requires a good set of legs and walking shoes to explore. (plus a walking stick in many areas over the rough terrain.)

Many other smaller temples dot the landscape all over this area and actually for a few hundred years many of these temples were lost to the ‘jungle.’DSC_0254
