Dixon Nyan Gbeanquoi has a passion for lost souls and for strengthening the body of Christ. He has believed for many years that God was calling him to be an ambassador for Christ to the world. Together with his wife Christiana, who has a passion for children, they are dedicated to missionary service.
\u201cNot that we are competent in ourselves \u2026 God has made us competent as ministers\u201d (2 Cor. 3:5-6)
10 years ago at the age of 23 in the midst of the civil war in Liberia, fleeing for safety to Ghana, God called Dixon among many refugees in Ghana to be an ambassador for Him. He was sent to Nigeria to be trained as an Evangelist and Church Planter at the International School of Evangelism and Church Planting in Jos. The training exposed him to both rural and Urban Evangelism and Church Planting and the desire to be a missionary was born.
He went back to Ghana to serve the Emmanuel Lutheran Refugee Congregation, which was a church established by the Liberian refugees who fled to Ghana during the civil war. When peace was restored in Liberia and many refugee church members went back home or were resettled in other countries, the refugee congregation became empty. But Dixon had gained admission to the Bachelor of Divinity program at the Theological College of Northern Nigeria (TCNN) and so returned to Nigeria to study, and eventually went on to earn a Master of Arts in Systematic Theology.
While studying for his Bachelor and Master degrees, he had opportunity continue pursuing his passion for missions by joining the Lutheran Students outreach ministry. In 2013 he led a team of students on an outreach ministry to a rural village named Pulchi in the north of Nigeria that is known for religious violence and for the marginalization and persecution of Christians. God blessed their holistic ministry and preaching the Gospel such that many were baptized, giving their lives to Christ.
Dixon\u2019s wife, Christiana Dixon Gbeanquoi, is from Nigeria and is a teacher by training with a Bachelors degree (Bsc. Ed.). She has taught primary school in Nigeria, including in a village of a different language and culture, dominated by Muslims, where she was able to share her faith with them. She has a passion for bringing education to children in places where it is most lacking.
Christiana and Dixon were married on April 30, 2011, and they were blessed with their first child, Ethan, on May 7, 2013. In God\u2019s hidden wisdom and fatherly love, Ethan was called home due to illness on Jan. 1, 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n

From Liberia and Nigeria, to Tanzania<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The Gbeanquois moved to Tanzania in January, 2015, to serve in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania. Dixon is to work in evangelism and nurturing two new congregations near Mwanza. Christy is to help to develop a Lutheran school in the same area. They are grateful for their support team, as mission work depends on fellow believers who partner with the missionaries in prayer and gifts of support throughout their years of missionary service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
