Ethan, Amanda, Aubree, August, and Ezekiel live on the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica in the village of Bejuco, Parrita, where they lead the Costa Rican religious, non-profit association LightHouse Transformation Ministries (LightHouse).
Founders and leaders of LightHouse, Ethan and Amanda strive to meet social needs, build meaningful relationships, and create opportunities for discipleship. Through their leadership, the non-profit association has grown into a thriving ministry while intentionally developing toward local leadership and long-term sustainability for Gospel-centered outreach and discipleship.
Since 2017, Ethan and Amanda Hutton, along with their three children have served as missionaries in Parrita, Costa Rica. Former public high school teachers, they are passionate about using education, relationships, and discipleship to bring the hope of Christ to individuals, families, and communities.
Before moving to Costa Rica, Ethan and Amanda taught in the public-school system in Schuyler, Nebraska. Their years in education shaped a ministry philosophy that continues to guide their work today: authentic relationships create the greatest opportunities for growth, transformation, and sharing the Gospel.
Much of Costa Rica’s Central Pacific Coast is negatively impacted by poverty, broken homes, abuse, and the trauma of abandonment. It is here that Ethan and Amanda serve the youth and their families, meeting their practical and emotional needs while helping them discover hope, identity, belonging, and transformation through Christ.
LightHouse serves the Parrita communities through school-based programs, English language initiatives, teacher trainings, youth clubs, and Renova—a ministry that reaches adolescent and young mothers and their children. Because of these ministries, the Huttons and the LightHouse team walk alongside numerous individuals through the difficulties of their lives, guiding them and pointing them to Christ, their rock and salvation.
Through consistent presence and living out of grace, Ethan and Amanda create spaces where youth and their families experience belonging and hope through Christ’s unconditional love. And with time, the Lord brings healing to wounded hearts, minds, and souls, restoring and redeeming lives by His grace.
The Hutton family’s ministry extends far beyond organized programs. Whether gathered around a meal, sharing coffee, opening their home, or walking alongside neighbors through life’s challenges, some of the most powerful and exciting ministry happens in sharing these everyday moments.
Through your prayer, advocacy, and financial partnership, you help make the Huttons’ presence and the LightHouse ministry possible in Costa Rica to teach for impact, tell of the love and hope of Christ Jesus, and transform lives for today, for tomorrow, and for eternity.
