Costa Rica is renowned for its natural beauty and thriving tourism industry, yet often unseen are the communities marked by challenges such as the trauma of abandonment, human trafficking, gang violence, educational barriers, family instability, and other social issues. 

Despite its international reputation for a high quality of life and attractive retirement opportunities, many regions of Costa Rica struggle with social progress and a lack of hope.

LightHouse Transformation Ministries exists to shine the light of Christ into this dark reality. 

After years of living and serving in a marginalized region of Costa Rica, the Hutton family and Zach Barz partnered with local leaders and community members to establish LightHouse in response to the numerous physical and spiritual needs they witnessed firsthand.

LightHouse strives to meet the social needs by offering educational opportunities, cultivating safe communities of belonging, and demonstrating Christ’s love in practical, everyday ways. 

Through these efforts, we build meaningful relationships and walk alongside youth and their families through the challenges and pains of their lives, creating opportunities for restoration, hope, and transformation.  

As trust is built, we proclaim the Gospel and facilitate discipleship opportunities, walking with them as they grow in their relationship with the Lord. 

LightHouse seeks to see lives transformed as needs are met, relationships are built, and people come to know and follow Christ through public school English initiatives, mentoring relationships, extracurricular activities, tutoring, family support, community outreach, and discipleship opportunities.
