class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Our missionary \u201ccareer\u201d began in 1988 in Venezuela, where we served as missionaries for 13 years, <\/strong>planting churches and training church leaders.\u00a0 While there, our four children were born and grew up as \u201cbi-cultural kids\u201d.\u00a0 It was during those years that God opened our eyes and our hearts to the joys and challenges of serving the Lord as cross-cultural missionaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Later, Jim served as an Area\u00a0Director for missions with the LCMS, and as a church planter in Miramar, Florida. Liisa taught\u00a0music and Spanish in the Lutheran elementary schools in the Miami area from\u00a02001 &#8211; 2014. <strong>In 2010, Jim founded Global Lutheran Outreach, an organization that identifies, recruits, and trains people to serve as cross-cultural missionaries.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2013, Jim accepted the invitation of the Lutheran Church of Chile to serve as a missionary to Santiago while still continuing as director of GLO. After raising support for 1 year, we &#8220;deployed&#8221; to Santiago in October 2014 with the goal of planting two or more churches in that city of over 7 million people. We first worked in a team with missionaries from Argentina on a church planting ministry that was already in progress. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once that congregation was established, we\u00a0began planting the second Lutheran church in Santiago. In God&#8217;s wisdom, many of the members are Venezuelan immigrants who have fled <a href=\"http:\/\/globallutheranoutreach.com\/blog\/venezuelarelief\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the horrendous conditions<\/a> in their home country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some of them we even knew from our years in Venezuela! That congregation, &#8220;Divina Providencia&#8221; (Divine Providence) is a bustling ministry which also provides temporary lodging, orientation, and other assistance to immigrants. In November 2022, the congregation called <a href=\"https:\/\/globallutheranoutreach.com\/blog\/ventura\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a Venezuelan pastor<\/a> to serve them <strong>and we repatriated to the USA so that Jim could assume the leadership of GLO full-time.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are grateful to God for our those experiences. We believe the Lord is using them to equip us to provide vigorous and Jesus-focused leadership to a new generation of missionaries &#8220;from everywhere to everywhere&#8221;! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, we venture out in faith, not knowing what lies ahead, but trusting that God will lead us and guide us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Please Pray for:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Faithful partners <\/strong>who will join us in prayer and sharing their talents and treasure to extend the Gospel to the ends of the earth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Lord\u2019s guidance and blessing on the missionaries of Global Lutheran Outreach<\/strong>.
