Birthday: February 12
I am so incredibly thankful and excited for this opportunity to serve God’s people in Guatemala. I’m amazed more and more each day at how God has been preparing me for this journey.
I grew up going to St.Mark Lutheran Church in Houston, where I always had an opportunity to get plugged in and go on mission trips. I loved mission trips because I was able to impact somebody’s life by meeting their needs and showing Jesus to them through my actions. When I moved to Austin to pursue a Business degree at Concordia University Texas, I immediately got involved in serving opportunities where I could continue to meet people’s needs and share Jesus with them. I began volunteering my time preparing meals for homeless youth and mentoring young men in the prison system.
In 2014, I signed up for my first international mission trip with Can-Do Missions and Groundwork Guatemala. After a week of house visits, VBS and meeting many wonderful people I fell in love with Guatemala. I began to understand the difference between my plans and God’s plans. I wanted to make money; God wanted me to make disciples through mission work.
Since my first visit to Guatemala I have taken every opportunity to return and I have made some amazing relationships that I cannot wait to continue. I will be serving with Castillo Fuerte Lutheran Church and the Santa Cruz Lutheran Mission in Amatitlan, Guatemala. I will be assisting with the development of the Christian Education program of the church and working with the children, youth and young adults of the mission.
I pray that God continues to keep my heart open to what he is teaching me. I am so excited to begin this journey in Guatemala and I hope that God will use me there for many years to come.
