Missionary Shary Frahm – Serving in Cambodia

Garuna Schools and Beyond

One of the key factors in community development is the development of education for the community. The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cambodia agrees with this philosophy and during the month of November in 2014 opened three new Garuna (grace, mercy, and compassion) schools in Kampot, Prey Veng, and Kampong Cham provinces. These schools will add one grade per year as student progress, giving the young people a Christian education as well as the skills to advance their communities and society. We are proud to be part of this effort.

In the Countryside The Angels are Singing !

On Wednesday, November 12, 2014, Pastor Bun Sopheap baptized 58 young people in the Cheukk District of Kampot Province. This is the type of growth in the Christian church in Cambodia that makes Cambodia one of the biggest mission fields in the world today. Pastor Sopheap is a pastor with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cambodia and is one our community development partners. Praise the Lord for Pastor Sopheap and his passion to grow the church in his rural community.

Immanuel Crystal Lake Visit

Let none hear you idle saying
“There is nothing I can do.”
While the multitudes are dying
And the Master calls for you
Take the task He gives you gladly
Let His work your pleasure be
Answer quickly when He calls you.
“Here am I, Send me!
Send me!”

Prayer for Frahms

Come and Hear about God’s ministry in Cambodia thru the eyes of two missionaries who are serving the local Lutheran church body.

George and Shary Frahm are Lutheran missionaries called by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cambodia to serve along side them in the local village communities and churches struggling to recover from the genocide that decimated Cambodia in the 1970’s..

Please join them on Sunday, November 16th at 9:45am at:
Immanuel Lutheran Church
300 South Pathway Court, Crystal Lake, IL
(in the computer lab next to the library.)

Meeting the Saints in Crystal Lake

IMG_0723-2It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to talk with the Saints of Faith Lutheran High School as future missionaries and about their role and responsibilities as they plan for their future during their high school education. Some of the students desire to be teachers, one an astronaut, and some were  not sure as yet, but one thing is for certain. During our fellowship time together we were all thinking about God’s plan for our lives and how to be a eternal part of it serving Him.

The Kids are Listening

Once again we can be assured that children do listen to what we say, and so for all those times we think that they aren’t, well, maybe that is not correct. See below:

We were at church Saturday night for service as our granddaughter was singing with her class. At the beginning of service we have a brief time for greeting one another. I meandered across the aisle and made some connections. One young mom and her two children were there. The little guy next to the aisle made my day when he said “Hey, mom, this is the lady I told you about.” The mom looked puzzled for a moment till I said to him “What did you tell her?” “That you were from Cambodia and came to chapel and told us all about those things to make good water to drink for the kids there.” Amen, Thank you Jesus! He truly made my day ~

New Member Class at Immanuel Lutheran Church

New Member class ~

On Sunday afternoon, October 19th, George teamed with Principal Dave Ingerswen of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palatine, Illinois to introduce the new members to Immanuel’s mission statement and reaching out with the gospel message. New members participating today all had children in the K-8 school this year. When we visit the classrooms to share missions with them, the parents will already know who we are.
