Snor Church Update

Snor Church Update ~

Once again, I, on behalf of Pastor Samuel and Immanuel Lutheran Church of Snor, Siem Reap, Cambodia, want to thank you for your participation in the We Raise project, “How Firm a Foundation.”

We had a slight delay in transferring the funds you provided to Cambodia, but they arrived in August and we immediately were able to start. As we expected, there have been increases in the cost of materials and labor, but they have not been significantly above our estimates. Right now, we are on a temporary hold in the project. As we expected, the rains of September were very significant; significant enough that Pastor has had to cancel services. However, we have already accomplished enough of the project that there has been no major damage. Two pictures of this year’s flooding are attached.

The project has also had unexpected benefits. Once the work to stabilize the property started, other local people dug deep and came alongside the We Raise project. One individual donated a house so Pastor could reside in Snor and eliminate travel between the community and his residence in Siem Reap City. Others found additional resources that have allowed the construction of a simple shelter in which the church will be meeting when we return in November.

I look forward to giving you a more thorough report when we land for our next deployment. Please pray for us as we watch God work and bring more of the Cambodian people to salvation in Jesus Christ. Keep up on what is happening at the blog and Facebook sites below.

Blessings to you all, and again, thank you!

PS ~ The first photo is the road to Snor and the church. I’ve posted it a few days ago, but its obvious that the rice is loving all the rain to grow. Traveling around is another topic of its own.

The Latest on the Church locally!

A wonderful ministry update to share to you all who are watching and praying through the progress of the land stabilization project on the Immanuel church site in Snor Cambodia. While we must realize that the increase of rain frequency has brought forth some delays and reruns of late, it is exciting to see project slowly coming to fruition. More land pictures in the future !

Tuk Tuks On The Road

To our faithful partners of Immanuel Lutheran Church Crystal Lake, IL we present to you the results of your diligent efforts in equipping God’s ministry under the leadership of Pastor Samuel. Words cannot express the gratefulness of these vitally important travel tools into the villages which will bring all of the preaching station souls closer together for fellowship, worship, teaching, and growth between the communities.

The red tuk tuk will easily seat 10 and travel over the cumbersome roads, and allow carrying of much needed church supplies that have been sparse until now but can also considered going forth.

Additionally, the remaining funds after careful negotiation allowed Pastor Samuel to have the tuk tuk wagon totally overhauled with new springs, shocks, undercarriage, wheels and tires, new seats and arm rests, plus a new roof and covers for the rainy season. We have had only a short jaunt thus far, but the difference in riding is without question impressive.

Thank you so much with love from us here in Siem Reap.

Please share this to the congregation for us who may not see it here. *_*

Thank you for praying with us for God’s Ministry here in Cambodia

Please pray with/for God’s ministry here in Cambodia with us in the following pleas and praises ~ (per request of Pastor Samuel who has asked his secretary (i.e. me for the moment 🙂 ) I will supply a bit of history for those of you who’d like to be more detailed. These came out of our prayer meeting tonight.

1-Savong house anniversary ~ both for his business and his marriage of 10 years. This man is the head of the house where we meet on Sunday evenings to share with these newbie believers, all young folk.

2-Kok Kraul Village ~ tomorrow we are being invited to share time with the representatives of 12 nations (at least) who are coming with the Minister of Education for the primary schools of country of Cambodia. (7100+) Recall that this school is a pilot project (the first) with the WFP (World Food Program) and these kiddos go to school all day vs only 4 hours as the norm. They get to sing their ‘English’ songs for the audience tomorrow. We’ve met the Minister of Education today and he is VERY interested in what has been accomplished in English in this school as it is not available nationwide at the primary level and due to complications in the government won’t probably come any time soon.

3-Sophena’s parents are not well. They are in their 50’s and live in Thailand.

4-Praise and thanks for ministry opportunities that come along in/during our own ‘planning’ and are not expected but are willingly embraced.

5-Baptisms that have been proclaimed in these past months and for those yet to come.

6-Sunday School program at the local level. (Request of Sophena) ~ She has two little ones yet and cannot do it solo in our absence.

7-Being called to serve ~ a privilege and an honor ~ not always an easy road to follow.

How Firm A Foundation ~ Update

Congratulations to each and every one of you who have invested in the project, “How Firm a Foundation.”  Thanks to you, we have succeeded in reaching and actually exceeding our goal of $9650.

However, there was a second goal in my mind, that the giving profile would be 1000 donors, each giving $10 to demonstrate the philosophy of crowd funding, namely “large numbers of people, each making a small investment to achieve a mighty goal.”  Please pray for your friends to whom you forwarded a copy of this web site, but may not have entered into prayer with the Holy Spirit on how they should be involved.

Thank you.
