¡¡Bienvenida!! X3

Comenzando el mes de diciembre tuvimos la oportunidad de visitar la iglesia de Cristo Rey en Guatemala, los acompañamos durante 3 actividades: primero la reunión de Caballeros donde compartí como fue nuestra experiencia durante nuestro trabajo misionero en Guyana, el servicio dominical y un devocional de adviento, sentimos todo su apoyo y cariño; la siguiente semana tuvimos la oportunidad de compartir con la Iglesia de la Comunidad en su celebración navideña donde con mucho amor y amistad nos brindaron un espacio para compartirles un poco de nuestra experiencia en el trabajo misionero; y Por ultimo pero no menos importante Compartimos en la Iglesia Shalom Tactic durante la celebración de navidad, próximamente vamos a estar visitando más Iglesias.

At the beginning of December, we had the opportunity to visit Cristo Rey (Church Christ the King) in Guatemala, we were able to be in three activities: The first one was the gentleman´s meeting where I was able to talk about our experience in the missionary work in Guyana, the second one was the Sunday service and the third one an advent devotional. We could feel all their support and love. On the next week we had the opportunity to share with “Iglesia Nazareno de la Comunidad” (Nazarene Community church) we joined their Christmas celebration were with lots of love and friendship they gave us time to share a little bit of the missionary work. And the last visit of the month, we shared with Church Shalom Tactic during the Christmas celebration. Soon we will be visiting more churches.

Que esta pasando en Guyana

En diciembre el ambiente se puso un poco tenso con el referendo territorial entre Guyana y Venezuela realizado el 3 de diciembre por el territorio del Esequibo que constituye en el 60% del territorio de Guyana, y aunque la corte internacional de justicia asegura que Guyana es la que administra y controla el territorio en disputa; Venezuela rechazo dicho fallo con el referendo realizado, luego Venezuela Movilizó su ejército a la frontera para reclamar el territorio y Guyana solicitó apoyo adistintos países, Brasil fue el primero en responder mediando entre los dos países donde se llegó a un acuerdo de discutir sobre el territorio del Esequibo y no recurrir a la violencia, por otra parte Reino Unido envió un porta aviones para garantizar la soberanía de Guyana, lo cual Venezuela lo ve como una amenaza y vuelve a amenazar a Guyana.

In December, the atmosphere got abit tense because of the political referendum on December 3 between Guyana and Venezuela, regarding the Esequibo territory, that contains 60% of the Guyana territory, even though the international justice Court promises that theterritory is administered and controled by Guyana. Venezuela rejected the veredict and mobilized their military to the border to reclaim the territory. Guyana requested help from other countries and Brazil was the first one torespond and help mediate between the two countries. They reached and agreement to not use violence and disccus the matter. United Kingdom sent an aircraft carrier to ensure Guyana’s sovereignty, but Venezuela sees that as a threat andin return they’re threatening Guayana again.

El motivo de nuestra visita a Guatemala

Este 5 de diciembre viajamos de Guyana a Guatemala, estamos finalizando nuestro primer año de servicio misionero y el objetivo de este viaje es tanto para visitar a las iglesias que nos apoyan, como para buscar más personas que se quieran unir a la “Misión Guyana”, y encontrar el soporte económico que nos permita continuar con esta misión por un año más, ahora tenemos el 20% de lo que se necesita para servir un año mas en la Guyana, y un donante anónimo de GLO donara 2 Quetzales o 2 Dólares por cada Quetzal o Dólar que sea donado desde Guatemala a la misión en la Guyana. On December 5, we traveled from Guyana to Guatemala. We are at the end of our first year of missionary service. The purpose of our Visit is to visit the churches that support us, find more people that want to join the “Guyana Mission” and raise the financial support that would allow us to continue in this mission field for one more year. At the moment we have 20% of what we need to serve one more year in Guyana. An anonymous donor will give two dollars for each dollar given in Guatemala. Celebraciones de Noviembre

Algo muy hermoso es encontrar diferentes tradiciones y noviembre fue un mes en el que compartimos con la iglesia muchas de estas, comenzamos el mes celebrando 3 Servicios por la Cosecha. El primero fue en la iglesia Luterana Emanuel, la segunda fue en la iglesia Luterana Saint Philips, y nuestra tercera fue la siguiente semana donde acompañamos a Anita, miembro de la iglesia Emanuel a Celebrar con una amiga de ella fue un pequeño servicio en casa, muy bonito. Nos encantó ver a todos llevando sus mejores cosechas, productos, ofrendas para Dios, es algo único de Guyana y un gesto muy hermoso. Después de la cosecha, ¡celebramos el sexto cumpleaños de Sofia! Fue un cumpleaños sencillo, invitó a 6 de sus amigas en Guyana y algunos adultos a celebrar con ella. Damos Gracias a Dios por la bendición que recibimos hace 6 años de tenerla y por permitirle un año más de vida aquí en Guyana junto a nosotros. La siguiente semana nos invitaron a celebrar el día de acción de gracias en la Iglesia Bautista donde cada uno colaboró con algo para comer haciendo un gran banquete para todos. Para cerrar el mes con broche de oro tenemos la Celebración de Cristo Rey para cerrar el calendario litúrgico y comenzar la temporada de adviento esto me recordó mucho a nuestra querida Iglesia luterana en Guatemala Cristo Rey.

Something beautiful for us is to discover different traditions. November was a month in which we shared many of these traditions with the church. We started the month celebrating harvest in three different places: the first one was in Emanuel Lutheran church, The second one was in St. Philips Lutheran church, the third one was with Auntie Anita, a lady from Emanuel church, she invited us to visit one of her friends and celebrate in her house. We enjoyed seeing everyone bringing the best of their harvest, products, and offerings for God. This is a beautiful and unique tradition in Guyana. After harvest we Celebrated Sofia´s sixth birthday. It was a simple birthday, she invited six of her friends and some adults to celebrate with her. We were so blessed to see her happy. God hasgiven her so many people that love her. And we thank God for the blessing we received 6 years ago when she was born and for having her in our lives. The Following week we were invited to celebrate thanksgiving at the Baptist church. Many people shared something delicious to eat, so we had a wonderful meal. To close the end of the month we have the Celebration of Christ the King, with it we close the liturgical calendar and start the advent season, and that reminded me very much of our beloved church in Guatemala, Lutheran Church Christ the King.

Llegó el equipo de GO

Durante el mes de octubre recibimos la visita de Sister Ruth, Tim y Sonia, llegaron a Guyana el 10 deoctubre Sister Ruth y Sonia, luego el 14 de octubre Tim vino a Guyana, ellos traían diferentes objetivos y me gustaría compartir con ustedes un poco de lo que cada uno vino a realizar y como es que ustedes nos pueden apoyar, comencemos por contarles quien es Sister Ruth, ella es la fundadora de la organización Guyanese Outreach que durante años ha intentado ayudar al pueblo de Guyana a superarse por medio de la educación y capacitación en diferentes campos como lo fue costura, manualidades, computación. Y su objetivo principal en este viaje era lograr un convenio para el uso del edificio en donde actualmente funciona el programa, y por el gran amor de Dios se logró que la organización siga utilizando el actual espacio físico por 99 años más, sabemos que Dios ve con agrado todo el esfuerzo que Ruth y su familia han puesto en la organización de Guyanese Outreach. During the month of October we had Sister Ruth (Founder of GO), Tim (computer Technician) and Sonia’s (nurse) visit. I would like to share with you some of the things that they did during their time in Guyana and how you can support us. For many years Sister Ruth has been helping the Guyanese people to get education and training in different areas such as sewing, crafts, using computers, reading and math. Her main goal during thistrip was to get an agreement to be able to continue using the building where the program operates for more years, thanks to God’s great love she was ableto achieve this goal for 99 more years, we know that God is pleased with Ruth and her family’s efforts on the Guyanese Outreach organization.
