Music Classes / Clases de música

Nuestro grupo de alumnos de la clase de música está compuesto de la siguiente manera 3 adultos y 12 niños, los viernes comenzamos con la clase de los adultos a las 4 de la tarde y seguimos con la clase de los niños a las 5 de la tarde al ser tantos niños dividimos elgrupo para que ellos puedan practicar, mientras que un grupo practica con Belen el otro grupo recibe una mini clase bíblica, pintan o juegan con Victor y desde hace dos semana comenzamos a darles una pequeña refacción y una galleta, poco a poco vamos conociendo más a los chicos y chicas. En un futuro si Dios lo permite nos gustaría contarles un poco más de cada uno de ellos en nuestros próximos noticieros.

Our group of students is formed with three adults and 12 kids. In Fridays we started at four with adults class and then children class at five o’clock. We divide the group of children so that every one can practice their instrument, While some children are having their music class whit Belen, I am teaching them a small Bible class, painting or playing games, after finishing we share with them a small snack. Each day we are getting to know the children a little better. Soon we would like to share in our newsletter a little bit about them.

The Blessings of the August / Las Bendiciones de agosto

Gracias a una ofrenda especial que recibimos para comprar instrumentos pudimos comprar un piano y una guitarra las cuales estamos utilizando para las clases de música, también queremos contarles que en este mes de nos autorizaron la visa de empleo la cual nos permite estar en Guyana durante 3 años, sin lugar a dudas este es un gran logro para la misión. También tenemos más ayuda en las clases de música, Raj un miembro dela iglesia Saint Philips recibe clases con los adultos y luego nos ayuda a supervisar a los niños que hagan bien los ejercicios tanto en el piano como en la guitarra, él también lleva una guitarra todos los viernes y la presta a los niños para que puedan practicar, lo que es una bendición.

Thank you for the special offering we received to buy music instruments, we were able to buy a keyboard and a guitar, we are using them for music classes. We also want to tell you that this month we received the authorization for the work Visa and the work permit. This visa allows us to stay in Guyana for three years, with out doubt this is an achievement for the mission. We also received help from Raj a member of St. Philips church, he takes his lesson with the adults and then stays to help the children on key board and guitar, he also brings a guitar every class an lets the children practice, this is a blessing.

Anniversary & Birthday / Aniversario y Cumpleaños

Agosto es un mes de celebraciones en la familia por que podriamos decir que en este mes nuestra aventura como familia Rivas Juárez comenzó, para ser exactos el 7 de agosto de 2016, decidimos unirnos en matrimonio, este año celebramos 7 años de casados y aunque no todo ha sido fácil damos muchas gracias a Dios nuestro padre por que las bendiciones y los momentos felices han sido más. Para cerrar el mes celebramos el cumpleaños de Belen!, de verdad Dios ha sido muy bueno, nos permitió hacer un almuerzo especial en familia , gracias a todos los que compartieron mensajes de felicitaciones por facebook, messenger, whatsapp de verdad nos hacen muy felices saber que aun a la distancia nos recuerdan con tanto amor y cariño.

August is a month for family celebrations. It is the month that our Rivas Juárez family started, exactly on August 7th we decided to get married, even though not everything has been easy, we thank God because He has given us more happiness than hard times. To finish the month, we celebrated Belen´s birthday, we had a special family lunch. We Thank all the Birthday greetings, given through Facebook, Messenger and WhatsApp. It really makes us happy to know, that you remember us with so much love.

En las Iglesias / In the Churches

Ya hemos estado cinco meses en Guyana, por lo que tenemos autorizado iniciar pequeños proyectos. Uno de los primeros que tenemos es el de estudios Bíblicos. Hablamos con la iglesia de St. Philips, que ya se estaba reuniendo para orar y les comentamos acerca de la idea de estudiar la Biblia; agregando así a la reunión de oración el grupo de estudio, nos hemos estado reuniendo durante este mes, estudiando el libro de Marcos, actualmente estamos en Marcos 3. Y estamos hablando de la posibilidad de iniciar con clases de música desde agosto. Damos gloria a Dios por todo lo que él está haciendo en las vidas de las personas al rededor nuestro. Nos gustaría iniciar un grupo de oración en la iglesia Emmanuel, y también clases de música estamos orando. Hemos visto como Dios ha estado trayendo a las personas de vuelta a la iglesia. Cuando empezamos a asistir, había entre 8 y 12 personas cada domingo, ahora son entre 22 y 30 personas dispuestas a participar, aprender y ayudar.

It has already been five months in Guyana, so we can start small projects. One project we want to start is Bible studies. When we talked with the members of St Philips church about the opportunity to make a Bible study in the prayer group in their church. they agreed. This group has been meeting for a month, we started with prayer and then added the study of the book of Mark. These two things they accepted with joy, now, we are on chapter 3. And are looking forward to starting music lessons. Praised be to God. We are praying to be able to open a prayer group in Emanuel Church. There is people interested in music classes, so we are planning a short term project for August. We have seen Gods blessing on the people of Emanuel church, bringing people back to church. When we started assisting, we were between 8 and 12 people. Now it has been between 22 and 30 people, willing to participate, learn and help.

Trabajo en GO / Working with GO

El laboratorio de computación está volviendo a la vida. Hemos estado limpiando, reparando, haciendo la planificación para un curso de reparación de computadoras, y orando para poder abrir el programa a los estudiantes, aun necesitamos 7 teclados para las computadoras, cada teclado tiene un valor aproximado de $6.00 (US) los mas económicos y las herramientas que se utilizaran para reparar computadoras que aún estamos en proceso de encontrarlas y cotizarlas. La Biblioteca va tomando forma, aunque solo es el primer estante, es el estante para los niños. Y está listo para utilizarse. En las próximas semanas nos gustaría terminar de organizar los libros, y pronto abrir la biblioteca para las personas de la aldea.

The computer Laboratory is coming to life. We have been cleaning, repairing, building the program and praying to open a computer repairing program. We still need 7 computer keyboards, that the cheaper ones cost $6.00 and other repairing tools that we still need to find and quote. The library is looking good, even though is just the beginning there is one shelf, the children’s shelf. Ready to use. For the next weeks. We would like to finish organizing the books, and soon open it for the people of the village. Soon we will need a printer to be able to make publicity, work sheets for the children and the other students.

Bendiciones / Blessings

Dios nos ha bendecido de muchas formas. Una de ellas, fue ver a Sofia graduarse de preprimaria. Ver la aprender a hablar y jugar en creole, y, leer y escribir en inglés. Ella ha sido nuestro ejemplo en cuanto a fe en Jesús, mostrándonos que es el que nos ayuda en los problemas diarios, es nuestro sanador, nuestro defensor y muchas otras cosas. Otra de las bendiciones que hemos tenido son las vacaciones de verano que van desde Julio hasta finales de agosto, poder comer distintos tipos de comida, y empezar a entender la cultura. En esto le damos gracias a Dios por Sherry, que tuvo la paciencia de explicarnos muchas palabras y significados de aspectos culturales cotidianos. Aún hay más bendiciones. ¡Tenemos Amigos! Dios nos bendijo con amigos de centro américa (Astrid, Jerson, Erika, David) podemos animarnos los unos a los otros, hablar en español, orar unos por otros, compartir experiencias y comer juntos.

We were blessed by seeing Sofia graduate from Nursery, she is learning to speak Creolesse, read and write in English, play in Crolesse with other children, she is also teaching us about real faith in Jesus, along with her we have learn that He is the one that can help us solving everyday problems, He is our healer, our defender and many other things. Another of our blessings are the summer vacations these are between the beggining of july and the end of August, we could eat different kinds of food, start to understand the culture. We thank God for Sherry’s life, she patiently explained us many things, and meanings. there are even more blessings! That is Friends! We have been blessed with friends from Central America (Astrid, Gerson, Erika, David), we can pray for each other, encourage each other, speak in Spanish, share experiences and eat.

La Visita / The Visit

Otro regalo de nuestro padre celestial, fue una maravillosa visita estos días, la abuelita vino de Guatemala a pasar tres semanas con nosotros. La vamos a extrañar. Tal vez muchos de ustedes ya saben, que una de las cosas más difícil de dejar, es la familia y los amigos. Por esta razón tener a mamá fue una gran bendición. Tuvimos tiempo de jugar, platicar mucho, tomar muchas tazas de café (gracias Deysi, Vilma y papa) Fue un regalo poder orar juntos, yo sé que siempre oramos unos por otros, pero orar juntos es maravilloso. Estos momentos nos ayudaron a recordar que siempre estamos juntos, la iglesia es una en Cristo. Y que mientras nosotros estamos aquí aprendiendo todos los días, nuestras grandes familias están constantemente orando por nosotros.
One more gift from our heavenly father. We had a great visit these days, grandma came from Guatemala, to spend three weeks with us. We will sure miss her. Maybe many of you already know, the one of the most difficult things to left behind is family and friends. So having mom was a big blessing. We had time to play, to talk alot, to drink many cups of coffee. (Thankyou Deysi, Vilma and Dad) It was a gift to be able to pray together, I know we are always praying for each other, but praying together is wonderful. These moments helped us to remember that weare always together, church is one in Christ. And while we are here learning every day, our big families are with us in constant prayer.

Peticiones y respuestas / Requests and answers

Hemos estado conociendo a un Dios que responde oraciones. Oramos por salud, y Él ha respondido. Oramos porque Dios fortaleciera la fe de Sofía, y ha respondido de formas maravillosas. Me gustaría compartirles una pequeña historia: Cuando fui a recoger a Sofi a la escuela me dijo: “Mami una de las chicas me estaba diciendo algo, yo no entendía y ella se estaba enojando, entonces le pedí a Jesús sabiduría; lo que ella quería era jugar con otra niña, así que yo me fui a jugar con otra amiga, después estaba feliz otra vez. ¿ves? Dios siempre responde cuando oramos.” Pedimos oración por nuestras visas de trabajo. También necesitamos oraciones para tener buena comunicación. Necesitamos ayuda. Agreguemos a nuestras oraciones a hermana Gloria, que Dios le provea mientras ella ayuda a otros (alrededor de 15 niños), hermana Marina, Que Dios le provea de todo lo que necesita mientras ella cuida de una familia muy grande. Y la última petición de este mes, por hermana Vanessa, para que reciba sanidad, tiene muchas hernias en su columna vertebral.
We have been getting to know a God that answers prayers. We were praying for health, and He has answered. We have praying for Sofía´s faith, and He is answering in wonderful ways, I will like to share one small story: I went to pick up Sofi from school, and she said “Mommy one of the girls was saying something and I couldn´t understand, and she was getting angry, so I asked Jesus to give me wisdom; and what she wanted was to play with another girl, so I went to play with another friend, than she was happy again, do you see? God always answers when we pray.” Please pray with us for our work visas. We also need prayers for good communication, we need help. Please pray for oursister Gloria, that God provides her while she helps others (around 15 kids),sister Marina, that God provides her while she takes care of a big, big, family. And sister Vanessa, to receive healing, she has many hernias in the spine.

Cosas buenas de Junio / Good things of June

Dios ha sido bueno!! Cuatro días a la semana Guyanese Outreach (Alcance Guyanense) por la tarde atiende a los niños enseñándoles inglés y matemática. Nuestra Sofía ha sido bendecida con maestros y amigos. Dios también nos ha bendecido permitiéndonos conocer niños maravillosos. Aprender el Creol Guyanense ha sido un reto, uno maravilloso. A medida que entendemos más de lo que sucede a nuestro alrededor, nos sentimos más felices. Aún, algunas vecesnos encontramos confundidos. Pero la mejor parte, es que tenemos muchos maestros. Gente hermosa dispuesta a explicarnos las cosas. Otro de los retos que hemos tenido ha sido aprender a comprar en el mercado y en el supermercado. Los precios cambian de un día para otro, por lo que debemos memorizarlos, para poder comprar a buen precio.

God has been Good. Four days a week Guyanese Outreach attends children in the afternoon, teaching them English and Math. Our Sofía has being blessed with teachers and friends. God also has blessed us by letting us know wonderful children. Learning Guyanese Creole has been a challenge. A wonderful one. While we understand more of what is going on around us, we feel happier. Still, sometimes we find ourselves confused; but the best thing of all is that we have many teachers. Beautiful people willing to explain things. Another challenge was learning to buy at the market, and supermarket. Prices change, from one day to the other, so we must memorized them, to be able to buy at a good price.
