Navidad en Guyana / Christmas in Guyana

Aunque nos escapamos en noviembre para visitar Guatemala teníamos un fuerte compromiso con los hermanos de Guyana ellos querían que los acompañáramos para celebrar navidad con ellos y conocer un poco mas de sus bellas tradiciones, Así que regresando a Guyana abrimos la temporada navideña con una escuela bíblica de vacaciones desde Guatemala compramos manualidades navideñas para decorar y también pequeños juguetes de niño y niña. A la escuela bíblica navideña asistieron 28 niños. Tuvimos la oportunidad de contarles la razón de la navidad, y por lo tanto toda la historia del nacimiento de Jesús. Realizamos un Servicio de Candelas el 23 de diciembre; disfrutamos todos los pasajes de la historia de Jesús, y muchos himnos navideños. El pastor John y su familia nos invitaron a Cenar el 24 de diciembre en su casa. Para nosotros fue una alegría y una bendición.

Aquí tienen la tradición de dar regalos el 25 y 26 de diciembre debido a que el 26 es el día de las Cajas o Regalos. Y para terminar el año, acompañamos a las congregaciones de Saint Philips y Emmanuel en el servicio de final de año; inició a las 10 de la noche y termino a la media noche para recibir juntos el año nuevo. Cada momento fue un regalo de Dios.

Even though we escaped in November to visit Guatemala, we still had a strong commitment to be with our brothers and Sisters in Guyana. They wanted us to celebrate Christmas with themso we could learn more about their beautiful traditions. So, back in Guyana, wehad a one day Christmas BVS. We brought Christmas decorations and crafts from Guatemala and small gifts to share with the children. We were blessed with 28kids. We had the opportunity to tell them the reason for celebrating Christmasand the story of Jesus´s birth. We also had a Candle light service on December23rd. We enjoyed all the Bible readings about Jesus and sang many Christmas carols. On December 24th we were invited to pastor Jhon´s house for dinner. For us it was a joy and a blessing.

Here, they have the tradition to give a way gifts on the 25th and 26th, because the 26th is considered boxing day or gifts day. And, to end the year, we participated in the new year service with the churches Saint Philips and Emmanuel . The church service started at 10 in the night and ended at midnight, to start the new year together. Each moment was a gift from God.

Conferencia en Zacapa / Conferencia en Zacapa

Para los que no se enteraron ¡¡¡¡VIAJAMOS A GUATEMALA!!!, Para ser parte de una coferencia de misiones. Estamos agradecidos con Dios por esta oportunidad, con GLO y con los hermanos de Zacapa por recibirnos y ayudarnos a realizar la conferencia de misiones y también agradecemos a los hermanos de Barrios, Gualán y Guatemala que pudieron asistir a la conferencia ¡¡Nuestro aforo fue de 71 personas!! Gracias por darnos el tiempo y tomarse el día para escuchar y ser parte del corazón de Dios hacia las misiones. Gracias Dios por permitirnos aprender de James y LIIsa Tino. Agradecemos que escucharan nuestras aventuras como misioneros; de verdad disfrutamos mucho platicar con cada uno, puedo decir que nosotros como equipo misionero de la Iglesia Luterana de Guatemala nos sentimos queridos y apoyados por ustedes. MUCHAS GRACIAS.

Además de la conferencia visitamos Nuestra Iglesia Cristo Rey, también a las iglesias de Tactic, Cobán y Carchá; además pudimos pasar tiempo con nuestra familia en Guatemala y Cobán fue una visita hermosa. De verdad ya los extrañábamos a todos en Guatemala.

For the ones that didn’t know, WE TRAVELED TO GUATEMALA!!!! We went to be a part of a mission conference. We are so thankful to God for this opportunity. We thank GLO and our brothers and sisters in Zacapa, for opening their doors and making the mission’s conference Possible. We are also thankful to the brothers and sisters from Barrios, Gualan, and Guatemala, who were in the conference. There were 71 persons in attendance! We are thankful that they took the time to listen and be part of God’s heart towards missions. We thank God for allowing us to learn from James and Lisa Tino. We are thankful for everyone at the conference who listened to our adventures in the mission field. We enjoyed talking to each one of you. As a missionary team for Guatemala Lutheran Church, I can say that we felt loved and supported. THANK YOU.

We also had the opportunity to visit our church Cristo Rey, and the churches in Tactic, Cobán, and Carcha. In addition to all this, we were able to spend time with our families in Tactic and Coban. We were really missing everyone in Guatemala.

Cierre de Clases de Música 2024 / Closing of Music Classes 2024

El programa de música para las iglesias concluyó la segunda semana de noviembre de 2024 y continuará en enero de 2025. Hasta ahora hay cinco iglesias diferentes en el programa de música. Hay entre 40 y 50 alumnos de diferentes edades. Gracias a Dios y a todos los hermanos y hermanas que apoyan la misión, concluimos el primer año de clases de música. Esperamos que con su ayuda podamos continuar en el 2025. Queremos fortalecer las habilidades musicales en las diferentes iglesias. Algunas de las ideas son comprar algunos instrumentos, como guitarras, teclados pequeños y violín.

The music program for the churches concluded the second week of November 2024 and will continue in january 2025. Up to now there are five different churches in the music program. There are between 40 and 50 students of different ages. Thanks to God and all the brothers and sisters supporting the mission, we concluded the first year of music lessons. We are hoping that with your help we can continue in 2025. We want to strengthen the music skills in the different churches. Some of the ideas are buying some instruments, like guitars, small keyboards, and violin.

Servicio de Reforma / Reformation Service

Este año la Iglesia Nacional de Guyana no celebrara un servicio de reforma unificado o a nivel nacional como el año pasado, entonces tomamos la iniciativa de ayudar al Diacono a preparar el Servicio de Reforma para el domingo 27 de octubre tanto en Saint Philip como en Emmanuel, va ser un servicio Dominical pero antes decomenzar el servicio queremos mostrar un video sobre la reforma protestante y luego dar una pequeña enseñanza sobre la reforma protestante, también estamos preparando un boletín con un pequeño texto sobre las 5 SOLAS, pedimos a Diosque el dirija todos los preparativos y las que las dos iglesias sean bendecidas.

This year National Church won’t celebrate a unified service like last year, so we decided to help the deacon prepare the reformation service on October 27th, in St. Philips and Emmanuel Lutheran churches. We will show a video about the Protestant reform, and then do a small study about it and prepare a bulletin about the five Solas of grace. We pray that God leads all the preparations and blesses both churches.

Servicio de Jovenes / Youth Service!!!

El domingo 22 de septiembre la Iglesia Luterana Emmanuel fue anfitriona de un servicionacional de jóvenes donde jóvenes luteranos de todas partes de Guyana viajaronpara hacer un servicio dominical especial, dirigido por los mismos jóvenes delas distintas iglesias de Guyana, nosotros ayudamos con la preparación de la Iglesia, nos reunimos el jueves anterior y realizamos una limpieza a fondo de la Iglesia, también colocamos algunas luces y he incluso compramos cables y un micrófono para la actividad, gracias a Dios ese domingo fue un hermoso servicio y todo salió super bien.

On Sunday, the 22nd Emmanuel Lutheran Church hosted the Lutheran Youth National service, where Youth from all over Guyana traveled to have a special Sunday service, led by the same young people. We helped to prepare the church, the Thursday before, we did deep cleaning, put on some lights, and bought some cables and a microphone. Thank God that Sunday was a beautiful service, and everything went super well.

Clases de Música / Music Classes

El programa de música que trabajamos en conjunto con GUYANESE OUTREACH tiene por nombre “MUSICA PARA LAS IGLESIAS” al ser GUYANESE OUTREACH unaorganización Cristiana sin denominación está abierta a trabajar con todas lasIglesias Cristianas brindándoles clases de formación musical, tanto para capacitar a los músicos de la Iglesia como para generar nuevos músicos, y es que en GUYANA la mayoría de los músicos tienen un conocimiento o formación musical muy pequeño. El programa volvió desde la primera semana de septiembre yahora estamos cubriendo 5 iglesias: Iglesia Luterana Saint Philip, Iglesia delEvangelio completo Agaphe, Iglesia del Nazareno Olivert, Iglesia Bautista First Baptist, Iglesia Pentecostal Fuego del Espíritu Santo, y hay más iglesias interesadas, este programa de música ha sido una bendición para nosotros.

The music program we are working on along with Guyanese Outreach (GO) is called “Music for the Churches”. GO is a Christian organization that is open to working with all the Christian churches helping with music education, improving the church musicians, and educating new musicians. It is a fact that in Guyana most musicians have little musical knowledge. The program started back in the first week of September. We are currently working in five churches: St Philips Lutheran church, Agape Full Gospel Church,Oliverth Nazarene church, First Baptist church, Holy Ghost Fire Revival ministry and we know there are others interested. This program has been a blessing for us.

Nuestra Primera EBV / Our Frist BVS

Debido a todo lo que teníamos que hacer en Julio (Cursos de Vacacionesde GO y el proceso del Permiso de Trabajo) más la lesión de Bel y algunos otros quebrantos de salud de Sofia, Julio resulto ser un mes muy complicado,decidimos posponerla para mediados de agosto, ya teníamos el tema y las lecciones. Y Dios por medio de varias personas proveyó, materiales para manualidades, refacciones y premios. Yo Estaba muy nervioso por contar la historia misioneraen inglés. Yo empecé, y terminó el pastor Keith con una adaptación al creole de Guyana.

Because of all the things that took place in July, (Vacation courses and GO and the work permitprocess) plus Belen’s injury, and other health issues with Sofía, July became a difficult month. The date for BVS was postponed to August and we had the lessons and material ready. God, through many people, provided the supplies for the crafts, snacks, and prizes. I was very nervous about sharing the missionary stories in English, so I started, and Pastor Keith finished with an adaption to the Guyanese Creole.

Curso de Vacaciones en GO / Vacation course at GO

Como es de esperar en Julio se realizaron cursos de vacaciones en Guyanese Outreach, por las mañanas tuvimos cursos de reparación de computadoras, reparación de celulares y introducción a diseño web gracias a Dios contamos con el apoyo de Nathaniel que vino desde los estados unidos a compartir su tiempo y su conocimiento. Por las tardes con los chicos del programa de refuerzo escolar de primero a tercero primaria se realizo un curso de vacaciones donde apoyamos con las manualidades para los 3 grados y al final del curso compartimos un pequeño regalo con los niños (una galleta waffle, una gelatina y un mashmellow) de parte de todos los que formamos esta misión.

As we had anticipated, the Vacation Courses took place at Guyanese Outreach in July. The morning courses included Computer Repair, cell phone repair, and Web introduction. Thank God we received help from Nathaniel who came from the United States to share his time and his knowledge. During the afternoon we worked with the children from the school supplemental classes program (1st to 3rd grade). They had English, Mathematics, and crafts. We helped with the crafts. On the last day, we had the opportunity to share a small gift with the children(cookie, Jello, and Marshmallow) from all of us who are doing the mission.
