35 “Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning, 36 and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast, so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and knocks. 37 Blessed are those servants*n1 whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will dress himself for service and have them recline at table, and he will come and serve them. 38 If he comes in the second watch, or in the third, and finds them awake, blessed are those servants! 39 But know this, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have left his house to be broken into. 40 You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

Lucas 12:31-40

35 “Estén ceñidos vuestros lomos, y vuestras lámparas encendidas;” 36 “y vosotros sed semejantes a hombres que esperan cuando su señor ha de volver de las bodas; para que cuando venga y toque, en seguida le abran.” 37 “Bienaventurados aquellos siervos a quienes el señor, cuando venga, halle velando; de cierto os digo que se ceñirá, y hará que se sienten a la mesa, y vendrá y les servirá.” 38 “Y si viene a la segunda vigilia, o aunque venga a la tercera vigilia, y los halla así, bienaventurados son aquellos siervos.” 39 “Y esto sabed, que si supiese el padre de familia a qué hora había de venir el ladrón, velaría ciertamente, y no dejaría minar su casa.” 40 “Vosotros, pues, también, estad apercibidos; porque a la hora que no penséis, el Hijo del Hombre vendrá.”

The Lord does not delay His promise

2 Peter 3:8-14

8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies*n1 will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. 11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12 waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! 13 But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

2 Pedro 3:8-14

8 Mas, amados, no ignoréis esto: Que un día delante del Señor es como mil años, y mil años como un día. 9 El Señor no tarda su promesa, como algunos la tienen por tardanza; sino que es paciente para con nosotros, no queriendo que ninguno perezca, sino que todos vengan al arrepentimiento. 10 Pero el día del Señor vendrá como ladrón en la noche; en el cual los cielos pasarán con grande estruendo, y los elementos ardiendo serán deshechos, y la tierra y las obras que en ella hay serán quemadas. 11 Puesto que todas estas cosas han de ser deshechas, ¿cómo no debéis vosotros de conduciros en santa y piadosa manera de vivir? 12 Esperando y apresurándoos para la venida del día de Dios, en el cual los cielos, siendo encendidos, serán deshechos, y los elementos siendo quemados, se fundirán. 13 Pero nosotros esperamos según su promesa, cielos nuevos y tierra nueva, en los cuales mora la justicia. 14 Por lo cual, amados, estando en espera de estas cosas, procurad con diligencia que seáis hallados de Él en paz, sin mácula y sin reprensión.

Luke 14:15-24

15 And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God. 16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: 17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. 18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. 19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. 20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. 21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. 22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. 23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

Lucas 14:15-24

15 Y oyendo esto uno de los que estaban sentados con Él a la mesa, le dijo: Bienaventurado el que coma pan en el reino de Dios. 16 Él entonces le dijo: “Un hombre hizo una gran cena, y convidó a muchos.” 17 “Y a la hora de la cena envió a su siervo a decir a los que habían sido convidados: Venid, que ya todo está preparado.” 18 “Y comenzaron todos a una a excusarse. El primero le dijo: He comprado una hacienda, y necesito ir a verla; te ruego que me excuses.” 19 “Y el otro dijo: He comprado cinco yuntas de bueyes, y voy a probarlos; te ruego que me excuses.” 20 “Y el otro dijo: Acabo de casarme, y por tanto no puedo ir.” 21 “Y vuelto el siervo, hizo saber estas cosas a su señor. Entonces enojado el padre de familia, dijo a su siervo: Ve pronto por las plazas y las calles de la ciudad, y mete acá a los pobres, los mancos, los cojos y los ciegos.” 22 “Y dijo el siervo: Señor, se ha hecho como mandaste, y aún hay lugar.” 23 “Y dijo el señor al siervo: Ve por los caminos y por los vallados, y fuérzalos a entrar, para que se llene mi casa.” 24 “Porque os digo que ninguno de aquellos hombres que fueron convidados, gustará mi cena.”

Titus 2:11-14

11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

Tito 2:11-14

11 Porque la gracia de Dios que trae salvación se ha manifestado a todos los hombres, 12 enseñándonos que, renunciando a la impiedad y a las concupiscencias mundanas, vivamos en este presente mundo, sobria, justa y piadosamente. 13 Aguardando aquella esperanza bienaventurada, y la manifestación gloriosa de nuestro gran Dios y Salvador Jesucristo, 14 quien se dio a sí mismo por nosotros para redimirnos de toda iniquidad, y purificar para sí un pueblo peculiar, celoso de buenas obras.

Luke 21:25-36

25 “And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, 26 people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because *xayour redemption is drawing near.” 29 And he told them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. 30 As soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near. 31 So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near. 32 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all has taken place. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but *xemy words will not pass away. 34 “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. 35 For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 But stay awake at all times, praying that you may *xmhave strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Lucas 21:25-36

25 “Entonces habrá señales en el sol, en la luna y en las estrellas; y en la tierra, angustia de naciones en confusión; bramando el mar y las olas;” 26 “desfalleciendo los hombres a causa del temor y expectación de las cosas que vendrán sobre la tierra; porque las potencias de los cielos serán conmovidas.” 27 “Y entonces verán al Hijo del Hombre, viniendo en una nube con poder y gran gloria.” 28 “Y cuando estas cosas comiencen a suceder, erguíos y levantad vuestras cabezas, porque vuestra redención está cerca.” 29 Y les dijo una parábola: “Mirad la higuera y todos los árboles:” 30 “Cuando ya brotan, viéndolo, de vosotros mismos sabéis que el verano ya está cerca.” 31 “Así también vosotros, cuando veáis que suceden estas cosas, sabed que está cerca el reino de Dios.” 32 “De cierto os digo, que no pasará esta generación hasta que todo esto acontezca.” 33 “El cielo y la tierra pasarán, mas mis palabras no pasarán.” 34 “Y mirad por vosotros mismos, que vuestros corazones no sean cargados de glotonería y embriaguez y de los afanes de esta vida, y venga de repente sobre vosotros aquel día.” 35 “Porque como un lazo vendrá sobre todos los que habitan sobre la faz de toda la tierra.” 36 “Velad, pues, orando en todo tiempo, que seáis tenidos por dignos de escapar de todas estas cosas que han de venir, y de estar en pie delante del Hijo del Hombre.”

Luke 17:20-30

20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: 21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. 22 And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it. 23 And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them. 24 For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. 25 But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation. 26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. 27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; 29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. 30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

Lucas 17:20-30

20 Y preguntándole los fariseos, cuándo había de venir el reino de Dios, respondió y les dijo: “El reino de Dios no vendrá con advertencia;” 21 “ni dirán: Helo aquí, o helo allí; porque he aquí el reino de Dios entre vosotros está.” 22 Y dijo a sus discípulos: “Tiempo vendrá, cuando desearéis ver uno de los días del Hijo del Hombre, y no lo veréis.” 23 “Y os dirán: Helo aquí, o helo allí. No vayáis tras ellos, ni los sigáis.” 24 “Porque como el relámpago, que resplandeciendo, alumbra de un extremo al otro bajo del cielo, así también será el Hijo del Hombre en su día.” 25 “Pero primero es necesario que padezca mucho, y sea rechazado por esta generación.” 26 “Y como fue en los días de Noé, así también será en los días del Hijo del Hombre.” 27 “Comían, bebían, se casaban y se daban en casamiento, hasta el día en que Noé entró en el arca; y vino el diluvio, y destruyó a todos.” 28 “Asimismo también como fue en los días de Lot; comían, bebían, compraban, vendían, plantaban, edificaban;” 29 “pero el día en que Lot salió de Sodoma, llovió del cielo fuego y azufre, y destruyó a todos.” 30 “Así también será el día en que el Hijo del Hombre se manifieste.”
